As anyone who knows me, I love retro and vintage goods. My eye immediately goes to bright, colourful patterns that are just that little bit different. I love combining fabrics too and most of my ideas come from laying out my fabrics and thinking, “oh that really does go with that pattern”.
I sell a wide variety of aprons on my Etsy store and just love putting together vintage styles and fabrics. I love finding a new retro print and combining it with a matching colour fabric. I love making the hostess 1950’s style aprons. They represent the quintessential 1950’s style which I absolutely love. The aprons started becoming prettier with decorative details in the fifties, rather than just a functional item of clothing. If you like all things retro and have a vintage vibe, these are for you. Plus they actually are still a really useful item to have today.
My most popular apron so far to date has been the yellow spotty lemon design. This has been sold as far away as America and Australia and continues to prove a hit! The design features pictures of lemons with green leaves on a cream background. The main basis of the apron is a sunny and cheerful mid yellow print with tiny white spots. Quintessential retro Amerian.
Other combinations that I have made include the retro housewife, featuring funnily enough housewives wearing aprons! A new pale pink spotty apron featuring retro cherries has also proved popular. My newest addition is the vintage Simplicity fabric print which is just gorgeous! If you think of the vintage Simplicity sewing patterns featuring retro dresses worn by glamourous women, then this fabric is for you.
Other favourites include the fabulous home economics fabric by Michael Miller, featuring various retro kitchen appliances, in red! I also have a cake apron featuring purple and blue layered cakes. Great for those cake and sweet stuff lovers out there. Lastly one of my favourite fabrics is the blue chef design with pale blue and white spots.
