Happy New Sewing Year!

Firstly, may I wish all my readers a happy and peaceful New Year. I hope you all enjoyed Christmas and managed to have a few relaxing days in between Christmas and New Year festivities.

I don’t really make New Year’s resolutions anymore, but I have decided this year to make myself some summer dresses. I think I managed one skirt last year, but this year I am determined to do better! I must say I am glad to get back to a routine. Days seem to merge over the Christmas school holidays and no-one seems to know where they are! Anyway, back to school last week and back to sewing. Actually I have been working over the New Year, I do confess. I can’t really manage more than a week without sewing and I have withdrawal symptoms if I’m not doing anything practical with my hands.

First make of the year has been pocket tissues holders in lovely Cath Kidston and Liberty of London fabric. I can’t seem to stop making them. They are indeed a fun and easy make. I like it when I can be creative with fabrics and patterns, seeing which pattern works with which. I am a huge fan of Frida Kahlo and love her work. I have quite a few Frida fabrics and thought it would be a bit of fun to make a pocket tissue holder in this fabric too!

Lastly, I have just finished a quirky new cosmetic/make up bag featuring the London Underground or Tube. I do love this fabric and have made a few items with it. This particular bag is made from a pattern by Centerstreetquilts. I have made a few of these bags which are lined and quilted. They come in three different sizes too.

Thank you for reading and happy sewing!
